Big band meets wind orchestra

A lively start to the new year: On Saturday, 13.01.2024, the Big Band of the Trossingen University of Music will once again provide musical delights at the Milchwerk with the concert “Big Band meets Wind Orchestra” together with the Musikverein Böhringen at 7.00 pm. Under the direction of Professor Matthias Anton, the Trossingen ensemble offers a varied concert program full of melodies, grooves and fantastic solos that will captivate the audience. Music lovers can also look forward to the Musikverein Böhringen, which, under the direction of conductor Marco Geigges, will enthrall the audience with the “Suite for Jazz Ensemble and Band” by Dutch composer Jurriaan Andriessen.

Bob Mintzer is one of the most successful and influential musicians and composers of the last 40 years. “Expressive melodies, independent chords and versatile rhythmic variations make his music extremely varied,” says Professor Matthias Anton, describing the jazz great.

The HfM Big Band consists of students from all study programs. Programs such as “Big Band goes Funk” or “A Tribute to Peter Herbolzheimer” are just as much a part of the wide stylistic range of this energetic ensemble as swing, fusion and Latin.

The event is part of the cooperation “Schaufenster Musikstadt – zwei Musikstädte begegenen sich”.
