International Museum Day

In 2024, International Museum Day will be dedicated to historical crafts in the countryside in line with the special exhibition “Village Life”. Craft demonstrations and guided tours through the exhibition show how people used to work in the districts of Radolfzell.

A shoemaker’s workshop in Böhringen, a cooperage in Güttingen and a smithy in Stahringen represent the large number of craftsmen who were represented in today’s districts in the 19th century. The village was an economic unit in which many things for everyday life were produced in-house. On International Museum Day, we bring these almost forgotten skills into the museum. Here, baskets are woven from willow, scythes are twisted and blocks of wood are processed. Children can get active with carpentry games in the workshop and the museum quiz.
